The Silvio Grasso company was founded in 1927. However, it was only in the mid-eighties that Federico, who took over from his father Silvio, began to bottle the entire production. The company has 14 hectares of vineyards, and is family-run by Federico , his wife Marilena, and his sons Paolo and Silvio.
These are classic terroir wines that need time and leisure. Despite their complexity, they have a pleasant freshness and juiciness. Year after year, Federico creates characterful bottlings that tell the palate unforgettable stories from Italy. All of Grasso's Barolos have been awarded top marks by Wine Spectator. Excessive wood aromas are deliberately avoided in these complex, modern wines. Here, too, the fruit as well as the soil and its natural cultivation are the essence of his wines.
