Syrah

Syrah

Details

The noble red wine variety Syrah comes from the Rhône. Before the great era of Bordeaux wines, the majestic Hermitage or the elegant Côte Rôtie were the most sought-after and expensive wines in the world. Towards the end of the last century, Syrah made a triumphant return to the wine world. The classic, Australian Shiraz representative - lush wild berry fruit, mild acidity, sweet spice aromas, and soft, creamy texture - became the epitome of the modern, uncomplicated red wine style. In Europe, the variety differs from its New World expression in having more fruit elegance and more subtle flavors, showing beautiful berry fruit and pleasant, yet distinctive tannin structure. Mostly deep, well-muted color, the more mature, the more neutral in aroma, usually herbal spice with some eucalyptus, tobacco-smoky-spicy, sometimes also cedar and husk tones.
