Ravenswood Winery

The Ravenswood Winery was founded in 1976 by Joel Peterson in Sonoma, California. From the beginning, Ravenswood had a clear mission: to produce high-quality Zinfandel wines that reflect the terroir of California while showcasing the full potential of this grape variety. Joel Peterson was a pioneer in Californian winemaking, and he recognized the potential of old Zinfandel vines grown in the region. These old vines are known for their low yields and concentrated flavors, making them ideal for crafting high-quality wine. Ravenswood became renowned for its single-vineyard Zinfandel wines, sourced from specific vineyards with unique terroirs. These wines are characterized by their intensity, depth, and complexity. In particular, the Ravenswood "Dickerson" Zinfandel gained significant recognition and acclaim in the wine world. Over the years, the winery has evolved and became a part of Constellation Brands, one of the largest wine and spirits conglomerates in the world. Nevertheless, Ravenswood has maintained its reputation for crafting artisanal wines and remains a significant player in the world of Zinfandel.
