Located in the Northeast of Portugal, to the border with Spain, Douro Region is a unique place rich in culture, history, gastronomy and of course… vineyards. A landscape build by the Douro River and by man’s hand. Surrounded by mountains that gives to the region a specific climate conditions, The Douro Valley covers approximately 225,000 hectares, divided into 3 sub-regions (Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo e Douro Superior), each one with its own characteristics. In 1991, the upper Douro, or Alto Douro region, was named as a UNESCO World Heritage site in recognition of its long tradition of port wine production and the way it fueled the growth of Portugal in significant economic and cultural ways.
