Domaines Jean-Philippe Janoueix

Details

Jean Janoueix came to Bordeaux in 1867 and founded a wine trading house. His son was the legendary Joseph Janoueix, who bought most of the châteaux in the greater Pomerol region from 1930 onwards. Today, Joseph's son Jean-Philippe Janoueix is responsible for the wineries. He is a grand master of extreme dense planting and thus of extreme yield restriction per plant, organic vineyard work and very ripe fruit. No tractor fits in the vineyard, only people do all the work by hand in the narrow rows of vines overgrown with grass. Time, perseverance and diligence have enabled Jean-Philippe Janoueix to build a highly refined portfolio of estates spread across Saint-Emilion Grand Cru (Haut Pontet, Confession), Pomerol (Sacre Coeur, La Croix), Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion (Cap) and Bordeaux Supérieur (Croix-Mouton, Conseiller), offering a rare diversity and quality.
