Château Nenin

Details

Château Nenin is a significant estate in the context of the Pomerol appellation, where it is rare for a vineyard to exceed 10 hectares, with its 32 hectares, 8 of which are exclusively dedicated to the Grand Vin. Nenin was owned by the Despujol family until 1997, when it was purchased by Jean-Hubert and Michel Delon, owners of Château Léoville-Las-Cases, and underwent extensive restructuring to produce clean, profound wines with greater fruit depth. Pruning and trellising methods were revised, the land was drained, vines were replanted or uprooted, and equipment was modernized. The aging and storage cellars were expanded and completely renewed, and air conditioning was installed. A new barrel room equipped with state-of-the-art facilities was built, completing the estate's transformation. According to the Delon family, Nenin today is the perfect expression of a "great, age-worthy Pomerol." Nenin is located just outside the village of Catusseau and consists of a charming château and contiguous vineyard plots around the estate, whose size allows its terroir to encompass the full diversity of soils that Pomerol offers.
