Champagne Louis Roederer

Details

The Champagne house of Roederer was founded in 1776 in Reims under the name "Maison Dubois Père et Fils." It was only in 1833 that Louis Roederer inherited the business from his uncle and gave it the name we know today. It was thanks to Louis's vision that the company became renowned worldwide. Against the norms of the time, Roederer began acquiring vineyards while everyone else was buying grapes, firmly believing that the soul of a great wine resides in the land. He focused all his efforts on vineyard work. Maison Roederer owns 242 hectares in the three best Crus of Champagne: Montagne de Reims, Côtes des Blancs, and Vallée de la Marne. The quality of the Crus, combined with the organizational structure, allows for the creation of the prestigious Champagnes that we know today, known for their finesse and elegance. But there's one name that truly made Maison Louis Roederer famous worldwide: Cristal. The Cristal cuvée was created to satisfy the Russian czars, Nicholas I and Alexander II, who were great lovers of Roederer champagnes. In just a few years, Cristal Champagne became an icon of the Maison globally, making the company legendary in the world of Champagne.
