The fathers of the Blaufränkisch Reunion are Gerhard Kracher and the Winzerkeller Neckenmarkt. Gerhard Kracher is famous for his subtle sweet wines from the Seewinkel region, and he has also been engaged often in other wine projects as well. The Winzerkeller Neckenmarkt is one of the most important producers of red wines in MittelBurgenland, with Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt the predominant varieties; around 280 member growers manage around 300 hectares of vineyards.
The name was also soon found: Reunion is the name of the new wine. This is an allusion to the reunion of the two partners, who had already worked together successfully once before. But it is also the reunion of old knowledge about sites and vines with the modern know-how of vinification, the union of the skills and experience of Gerhard Kracher and cellar master Gerald Wieder.
