This originates from the large family of Burgundy Pinot grapes and is regarded as one of the most noble white wines of all. Pinot Gris is a full-bodied, extract-rich white wine with a warm, flowery scent which demonstrates different characteristics depending upon its zone of cultivation. The spectrum ranges from slim, fresh representatives to wines with a certain mineral quality to glowing, substantial vintages. When harvested very early, the wines become light and sparkling. As it is prone to Botrytis – which develops to noble rot when it appears later in the season – the Pinot Gris often shows a strong palate characterized by the Botrytis with a typical honey tone. Achieves high quality as an aged wine.
