Else Zuschmann and Peter Schöfmann manage their 16 hectare (40 acre) estate according the principles of organic viticulture. Their winery is located in the quaint, winemaking village of Martinsdorf, set within vast, meandering landscape of the Gaweinstal valley in the Weinviertel. Despite the remoteness of their village, the journey by car from the city limits of Vienna is just twenty minutes. The winery is lovingly embedded in the “Weinlodge” – literally “wine lodgings” – that is composed of four spacious and modern apartments, and a magnificent restaurant, where the trained chef Peter Schöfmann treats his regular guests and holidaymakers to the finest of typical regional dishes every Friday evening during the summer months. There is also the farmowned “Greißlerei” traditional grocery store that sells delicacies and largely organic produce from the locality, a seminar room and quality-conscious winemaking facilities in the modern cellar construction. It is an ideal place to relax and enjoy some quality time together as a couple or with the whole family. It is also here, in this peaceful area and in unspoilt nature, that the passionate Zuschmann-Schöfmann “Winzerpaar” husband and wife winemaking team produce their wines.
