With his many top quality wines, Ludwig Neumayer was the first to direct attention to the considerable potential of his region. And he continues to be the most prominent wine-growing personality and pioneer of the Traisental. While the Traisental is the smallest wine-growing area in Austria and has been independent for only a few years, it is a historical fact that wine was already grown there 4000 years ago. In Ludwig Neumayer’s vineyard you will only find white grape varieties. From these he presses a light wine similar to the “Federspiel-Category” of the Wachau as well as one in the “Smaragd-Category”, which is called “Der Wein vom Stein”. While the Riesling and the Veltliner wines from this category can compete with the most exclusive varieties of wine, we must not overlook the Pinot or the Sauvignon blanc either. The full-bodied Weißburgunder is without equal in Austria and Neumayer’s Sauvignon is anyway sufficiently well known for its exceptional richness in nuances and depth. What all the long living wines "vom Stein" have in common is their unique combination of power and finesse.
